Rewiring the brain for happiness

When you are unhappy for a long time, that chronic unhappiness at some point turns into depression and, if left unchecked, depression can and usually does lead to a wide range of debilitating mental, emotional and physical health problems that affect every aspect of your life and are difficult to treat until the cause is acknowledged, treated and ultimately removed. Basically, chronic depression does not go away by itself.

Unbelievably in our day and age, 80% of people who have symptoms of chronic unhappiness or depression still do not receive any treatment. There is a stigma attached to depression, and so we don’t talk about it. We suffer in silence. When we seek help, it is generally given in the form of prescription medicine whose symptoms and addictiveness often vastly outweigh the benefits. It doesn’t have to be that way. It doesn’t have to be hard and it doesn’t have to take forever. You can rewire your brain for happiness using some very simple and effective tools and techniques based on the emerging science of Neuroplasticity.

When she was referred to me, Diane was 54 years old. She had been ‘clinically depressed’ since the age of 20 when she suffered a head injury. She described her life as a living hell for 34 years, and how it deeply affected the lives of her busy business owner husband and of her large extended family. She was using very heavy medication, she was overweight and she was prone to outbursts of anger, tears, long dark days of sadness and depression, and occasionally violence. She couldn’t live with herself.

How easy is it to rewire your brain for happiness?

Over a period of a few months, I worked with Diane using some of the latest Neuroscientific Brain Reprogramming tools and techniques to gradually get her off her meds, improve her sleep and take an interest in the world around her for the first time in decades. At first, she was disappointed that so much of her life had passed her by, she felt a bit like Rip Van Winkle. She could not use a bank machine or an automatic checkout machine at the grocery store or find her way in traffic by herself. I taught her how to quickly rebuild her procedural memory and her ability to plan and execute on that plan.

Over the year that followed, she experienced a major spurt of PTG, Post Traumatic Growth, and quickly got better than well.  Her mind reawakened, her concentration improved and her intellectual development literally blossomed. To see how far she could actually push her mind development, she began to travel. She got her first passport ever and took her first international trip totally on her own, then embarked upon a series of long journeys to reacquaint herself with long lost relatives all over the US and the UK.

Heartened by her success and wanting to see what else she could add to her bucket list, Diane decided to lose weight and stuck to it until she had lost 70 pounds!!! Talk about turning your life around! She started taking art classes and travelling to various locations to improve her artistic skills, and she followed that with buying her own horse. I hear from Diane regularly with updates on how far she is still pushing her peak mental performance and exploring how BIG big really can be.

How happy is her family with Diane’s transformation? Her husband’s business has doubled its revenue since he no longer has to take time off work to care for Diane and she is busy nurturing her relationship with her grandchildren. Let me tell you, it was very touching to get cards from her grandchildren thanking me for giving them their grandma back.

Chronic unhappiness does not go away by itself.  You need to change your brain to change your life, and I can help you do that. Think of what it could do FOR YOU.
